The Waukee Brief
Two high schools, one fast-growing town, and a crosstown split that keeps getting better. Here is how to follow Waukee High (the Warriors) and Waukee Northwest (the Wolves): the mascots and colors, the recent state titles, the CIML, and exactly where to find scores, schedules, and tickets all year.
Waukee High are the Warriors (purple and gold); Waukee Northwest, which opened in 2021, are the Wolves (royal blue and silver). Both are large schools in the CIML and both play in Iowa's top class. For official schedules and digital tickets, go to each school's athletics site via waukeeschools.org; for live Iowa results and brackets, use Bound.
Yes. Waukee Community School District runs two high schools, and they are not the same mascot, so it is worth getting straight:
Waukee High is the original, the Warriors, in purple and gold. As the city boomed, the district opened Waukee Northwest High School in August 2021, and its teams are the Wolves (royal blue, silver, white and black). Both are large schools competing in the Central Iowa Metro League (CIML), Iowa's marquee metro conference, in the top playoff class.
When Waukee outgrew a single high school and opened Northwest in 2021, it set up a natural crosstown matchup: Warriors and Wolves, same district, same town, meeting across nearly every sport. Because both programs are strong, a Waukee vs. Waukee Northwest night can be one of the better tickets in the metro. We do not print a rivalry date we cannot confirm, so check each school's posted schedule for this season's head-to-head games.
Both schools win at the state level, and the Wolves came out of the gate fast after opening in 2021. Recent Iowa state championships include:
Title lists reflect published records and can grow each season; confirm the latest on Bound and the schools' athletics sites.
Tickets for most Iowa high school events are digital and linked from each school's athletics site. Rivalry and playoff games can sell out, so buy ahead, arrive early, and check the current clear-bag policy first.
The Waukee Brief runs a weekly Warriors and Wolves scoreboard plus everything else happening in town, in one short email.

Iowa is unusual: it runs high school baseball and softball as a summer sport, wrapping up with state tournaments in July, while most states play in spring.
